Look high and low, but you're not going to find a better ladder than this one. Not only is it incredibly stable when extended, it takes the place of seven ladders and two trestles, and you won't even break a sweat converting it. Two outer ladders telescope over the inner unit, and a locking center hinge on the inner ladder makes the A-frame possible without spreader bars or braces. The locking assembly was smooth and positive in our trials; the inner ladder slid freely and easily. Transforming the ladder from one configuration to another was no struggle at all. The inner and outer side rails are made of aircraft-grade aluminum; slip-resistant rungs and feet made us feel like we hadn't left the ground. Yes, it costs a bit more than other ladders, but you get what you pay for. This ladder will last a lifetime, and it's the only one you'll ever need. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste

Wing 10103W Customer Review(s):
Summary: Little Giant Type 1A , 17 ft Ladder Rating: 5 (out of 5) Comment: These ladders are everything their fans claim they are: ingenious, versatile, and well made. However, because they are also heavy and expensive, it is important to buy as much ladder as you need, but no more. Be aware that if you have a 2-story house with 8' ceilings over a crawl space or basement, the 17' model will only reach to the bottom of a typical 2nd story window. On the other hand, I'm not sure I'd want to own a ladder much longer and heavier than this model. I'm a reasonably fit and strong guy; I can set and raise my conventional 28' extension ladder alone. But I'm pretty sure I'd need a partner to handle the longest LG type 1A model. The 22' type 1 model probably would have been better for me because it is only 1 pound heavier than the 17' type 1A, at about the same price, yet it could get to the eaves of my 2-story house.
In my opinion, these ladders excel as step ladders, but for many people will not be a good replacement for a long, rope-raised extension ladder. The best features are their relative stability and the ability to raise the 2 halfs of the A-frame unequally, so you can position it close up to a wall or on a stairway. Plus you can use the system as a scaffold.
The price is very high, but I checked out the cheaper Gorilla ladders at Home Depot and they seem to be even heavier. Furthermore the 2 sections did not raise apart as easily (as though they were not precisely machined). I give the LG 5 stars based only on the product itself, not on the shipping , company service, etc. (since I got it at a hardware store). .........................................................................................................................................................................
Summary: Worth the extra cost Rating: 5 (out of 5) Comment: I looked at the Werner telescoping ladder at Lowes and the Gorilla ladder at Home Depot ($200)but I bought the Little Giant instead....even though it cost almost twice as much. Some things are just not wise to choose by price only. The Little giant was much lighter and still sturdier than the other ladders....possibly think due to the hinges and the fit of the ladder sections. I only tried out the other ladders in the the stores...but neither seemed as rigid as the Little Giant that I had borrowed. The Little Giant is welded better than the others, in my opinion. I'm basically a pretty cheap guy and I always shop for the bargains, but you won't be dissapointed in the Little Giant ladder. Another plus... other two are made in China and Korea..the Little Giant is made in the USA. .........................................................................................................................................................................
Summary: Not worth the trouble Rating: 1 (out of 5) Comment: I ordered a little giant after seeing the infomercial and having just bought a house I thought it would be great. 2 weeks passed then three. I called to check on my shipping date, but they didnt' seem to have one. Some one was supposed to get back to me. Three days later someone did and said they could ship it today. Well I needed it yesterday for another project so I asked if they could overnight it. They couldn't handle that, but asked if I'd like a work platform for my non existance ladder. I told them they could keep it. I went to Lowe's and bought the Werner telescoping ladder for less then half the price, and its a several feet longer. Its more then sturdy enough for me at 180lbs, rated to 300. The best part is that the little giant showed up about a week later and they charged my card for it. Fortunately my wife refused delivery and my card company took care of the charge because little giant had to wait for the ladder to come back. They just aren't worth the hassle .........................................................................................................................................................................
