Retrieve delivered mail only with a key
No key required for mail delivery
Spacious opening for large-size mail
Ample storage to hold weeks of mail
What more can you ask for? MailGuard's security mailbox can't be vandalized, crushed, dented, scraped, scratched, or smashed, and that's not even its best feature. It also holds a ton of mail securely and can only be accessed with your key, though the letter carrier doesn't need one to deliver your mail. It's an ingenious design that offers some 2,000 cubic inches of storage, so when you're away for two weeks, your neighbor won't have to trot over to pick up your mail, and would-be burglars can't tell what's in it. Because it's made of a super-strong polyethylene plastic, you'll never have to paint it, sand it, rustproof it, or repair it. You can mount this beauty on a post or wall--hardware is included for each. With this box out front, you won't have to worry about mail security again. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste

MailGuard 579 Customer Review(s):
Summary: No more mail theft at my house Rating: 5 (out of 5) Comment: I didn't know mail theft was so prevalent until it happened to me. It installed in less than an hour. It sits by the curb, it is not unattractive especially next to the ugly black metal boxes. It looks like it will withstand California weather. My mailman likes it and it is easy to open, close, lock and unlock.
It does not eliminate the outgoing mail problem, so I will still need to hand my mail to the mailman or take it to the post office. Unless your mailman is willing to carry a key to your mailbox, none will solve this issue.
I did a thorough job of researching functions and prices. This one is the best buy for a locking mailbox with ample storage. So far I am happy. .........................................................................................................................................................................
Summary: Practicality of MailGuard 579 Rating: 5 (out of 5) Comment: I purchased and installed the MailGuard 579 [black] and have found it to be everything it is advertised as. It is reasonably priced when compared to other locking mailboxes [especially the 'Armidillo'] If you mount it on an existing mailbox post, be sure that the post is 15' back from the curb so that someone pulling close to the curb doesn't hit it with a rearview mirror. Even our mailman likes it! .........................................................................................................................................................................
Summary: poor manufacture Rating: 2 (out of 5) Comment: THE DOOR ON THE MAIL BOX DOES NOT CLOSE WITHOUT PUSHING IT CLOSED AND I HAD TO PUT A HANDLE ON IT TO PULL IT OPEN
IT REQUIRES A GREAT DEAL OF FORCE TO CLOSE IT AND OPEN DUE TO IMPROPER FIT UP OF THE DOOR INTO THE MAILBOX ITSELF
THE CONCEPT OF IT IS GOOD, THE CONSTRUCTION OF IT IS POOR .........................................................................................................................................................................
