A heavy-duty machine for serious traffic and large homes, the Dirt Devil Cruiser has a stylish retro look backed by thoroughly up-to-date features. Though rather weighty for an upright, the vacuum has an aluminum body, making it lighter than comparable models, and is self-propelling to boot, reducing cleaning effort to a minimum. A wide floor nozzle maximizes coverage and a centrally located air path keeps suction powerful. Bagless for convenience, the Cruiser collects debris in a transparent dust cup that pops off for easy emptying. Summary: Pleasantly Surprised

Comment: I'm hard to please because I pretty much hate all vacuum cleaners, but this one surprised me. We've been using it for over a month now, and I can say without reservation that I like it. This model is quieter than any other vacuum cleaner we've used (although that's not saying much because most sound like leaf blowers), and it cleans the carpet exceptionally well. The attachments are long enough, and the push-/pull-assist is responsive and a great help. I like the semi-retro look, too. The only reason I gave it four starts instead of five is because it's fairly heavy, but at least the recessed handle is in a logical place so that it's well balanced while carrying.

Comment: I bought this vacuum 6 months ago. I bought it for three reasons; 1. I had a Dirt Devil before this one and LOVED it 2. it said it was a professional grade and 3. it has a 6 year warranty (thank goodness). One month after purchasing it the brush broke and although it had a warranty and was a faulty part it's not considered a warranty part, it's considered normal wear and tear. Five months after purchasing it the self propelled part quit working, the repairman replaced the part, but the self propelled still didn't work, then Dirt Devil decided to replace the entire vacuum. After returning home with the new vacuum, I vacuumed 3 average sized rooms and it was used less then one hour and the self propelled part broke on this one too. I wish I could get my money back and buy another brand, but I'm now stuck with it and the fact that it'll be at the repairman's shop more then it'll be in my home. Don't buy one!
