Features of Dirt Devil 085805

  • 13-inch cleaning path; 2-year warranty

  • Easy-gliding 12-amp upright vacuum for bare floors or carpet

  • Powerful suction; superior maneuverability; bagless dirt collection

  • Stretch hose and on-board tools for hard-to-reach areas

  • MicroFresh filtration traps over 99 percent of dust and allergens

A full-power vacuum with an attractively compact design, the Dirt Devil Ultra Swivel Glide upright is suitable for mixed-floor cleaning, as well as above-floor tasks. It has a 12-amp motor for powerful suction, and its bagless design is tidier and more effective than bagged models. Dirt and debris collect in a transparent hatch, which pops off the machine for easy emptying. Inside the hatch, a pleated MicroFresh filter traps 99 percent of dust and allergens, reducing irritants in your carpet and home atmosphere. At 13 inches wide, the floor nozzle offers efficient coverage, and its height can be adjusted for bare floors or three levels of carpet. It is fitted with a rotating brush roll for carpets as well as a protective furniture bumper. True to its name, the machine glides and swivels incredibly easily for low-effort cleaning. The Ultra Swivel Glide's accessories and attachments help you target high areas, narrow spots, and stubborn upholstery. The onboard hose is markedly long yet unobtrusive on the machine, and conversion to tool cleaning takes just a few seconds. Onboard tools include an extension wand, a crevice attachment, and a dusting brush. Other helpful details include a carrying handle, quick-release power cord hooks, and a headlight. Dirt Devil backs the machine with a two-year warranty. --Emily Bedard

Dirt Devil 085805 Customer Review(s):

Summary: Beyond compare
Rating: 5 (out of 5)
Comment: I've read some crappy reviews for this vacuum, I gotta say. Well, the reviews themselves weren't crappy, persay, but some people thought the vacuum was crappy. Far be it for me to rush to the aid of an indefensable, inanimate object, but I was quite impressed by my new Dirt Devil, so I guess I felt compelled to say a few kind words.

My best friend inherited the vacuum from a mutual friend of ours and we tried to sell it in a yard sale we just recently held. I needed a vacuum, but I figured something must be wrong with this one since it was in a yard sale. My buddy told me that our mutual friend gave it to him when he moved out of state, and that the vacuum worked fine. I checked out the vac and struck a deal to buy it and an old dining room table for $73, which was the total of my own yard sale earnings up 'till that point. I guess that means I got my Dirt Devil for what, $36.50?

Once I cleaned it up and removed roughly 42 lbs. of hair from the spinning wheel thingamuhfrick, it worked just fine. So fine, in fact, that I was damn impressed. Not only was there no dust, but the air immediately began to smell fresh when I turned it on. This flabbergasted me. And the suction! Seriously, this thing is powerful. It leaves better lines than other vacuums. I know how stupid that sounds, but hey, I like those lines because I want other people to know I've vacuumed when they come in. It sort of defies the rumor that I'm some kind of filthy slob. Which I'm not. But I am somewhat neurotic. Or else I wouldn't be writing some pointless never-to-be-read review about a vacuum at 2:42 in the morning.

Anyyywayyy, moving right along at a snail's pace, removing the canister is a cinch, but shaking out the filter should definitely be done outside, with a hazmat suit on if possible. But what do want for $89.99? I mean, $36.50? In conclusion, I really like my new Dirt Devil and if you're not dead from the neck up or throwing money away for fun, you will too. Of course, there's no accountability for common sense these days, which is probably why I wrote this in the first place; WHATEVER THE HELL THAT MEANS.

The proceeding was an unpaid review for the Dirt Devil 085805 Ultra Swivel Glide Bagless Vacuum. Amazon.com is not responsible for the views expressed in my review, nor do they reflect the views of Amazon.com, even though my views are right and anything to the contrary is inherently wrong. Questions and comments about who the hell I am, and how you could hire me to do this for you full time,(...) Thank you for reading my review.

Summary: Dirt Devil Vacuum
Rating: 4 (out of 5)
Comment: This Vacuum picks up GREAT. It delivered promptly and the price can't be beat. My only drawback is that is does not GLIDE smoothly as The name would indicate. I have a grandson that is learning to walk so it is VERY important to me that the carpet he is ALL over is clean and I recomend this vacuum highly on cleaning. I also have a seven year old granddaughter with MANY alergies so again controlling the dirt and dust is my main concern. If you don't mind the noise (not much worse than any vacuum) and can handle pushing a little harder than most it is a GREAT DEAL.

Summary: Good Vacum cleaner for the price paid
Rating: 4 (out of 5)
Comment: ROI - This is a low-end vacum cleaner from the price standpoint. I paid just over $50 and it seems to be doing more than I paid for. I think that the sucction and cleaning are great. I give it 4 stars for return on investment.

Noise - I have used Eureka, Hoover, Bissell brands in past and all under $60. This one makes pretty much the same noise as the Eureka and Hoover did. The Bissell I had was noisy from the day one.

Bagless - This is my first bagless vacum and so far I am liking the fact that I can empty the canister easily. I have a leaf blower and was thinking of blowing the air from the inside of the filter to blow away the dirt clinking to its outside. Of course this will have to be done in the yard, not inside. ;-)
