Philips HN050 Customer Review(s):
Summary: Average design makes this an average product Rating: 2 (out of 5) Comment: These headphones were great when i got them for my fourteenth birthday. They worked well with the sound, until I started to see flaws.
When walking with it, I looked like a dork. it made my ears look big, and that made me look like a doofus. Also, they didn't fit my neck, and they slipped around too much. It may look cool, but trust me it has a flaw in design.
The sound drained out loudness to whatever I was using. And because it dosen't have a carrying case, the left our broke, and
it dosen't fold either. the belt clip actually looks cool.
i can't recommend this product, get high quality ones. they may be more expensive, but you get what you pay for(usually). .........................................................................................................................................................................
Summary: Not worth the price Rating: 2 (out of 5) Comment: I bought these off ebay on a whim (they were dirt cheap there), but after I got them, I realized why they were so cheap.
Pros:
* Decent noise cancellation - the background noise is noticably reduced, and the music seems noticably louder
* Reasonable batter life - I've had a AAA cell in there for more than 10 hours, and the battery is still doing fine.
Cons:
* Very noticable 'white noise' - a hissing sound when noise cancellation is turned on. This is not noticable when playing music, but quite noticable when in pure noise-cancelling mode.
* Bad design - not foldable for storage
* Bad design for use on airplanes, since the band goes behind the head (around the neck) - makes the headsets ununable if you've got a pillow under your neck, or are planning to use them lying down anywhere
* The headsets don't work without the battery - even if noise cancellation is switched off
* The on-off switch is quite hard to operate - often takes a minute of struggling to turn off or on - due to it being a sliding switch with hardly any grip available to push it either way.
* Ears start aching due to the pressure on them within a couple of minutes.
* The cord is really short in real terms - at least 2' more would have been useful.
Bottom line - they're OK if you got them for a couple of $s (like I did off ebay), but no way are they worth $37 or more that they actually cost. .........................................................................................................................................................................
Summary: Sounds ok - design bad Rating: 2 (out of 5) Comment: I don't retun many things, but these had to go.
The design is awful:
- Pinches the tops of your ears
- The battery box has a clip for your belt, but the wire is too short to reach my belt (I'm 6' tall) - so when walking it would rip off my head when attached my belt.
- When not attached to my belt, it would swing around like other users have said and rip it off my head - same effect - but I looked like a major idiot.
- Didn't fold for storage.
They sound OK, NC was adequate on a plane. But there was no reason to put this battery box in the middle of the cord. I returned these and got a nice Sony pair with all the controls on the headphones themself. .........................................................................................................................................................................
