I can highly reccommend this computer to anyone wanting to purchase one. And Amazon had the best price on it, trust me i went looking around. So don't let the other bad review influence you, this one is a very good PC.

Summary: Flimsy

Comment: The plastic case dents easily and the whole thing just feels cheap. This is not Compaq's finest hour.

Summary: Melt Down Waiting to Happen!
Rating: 1 (out of 5)
Comment: Run far far far far far away!!

In February '04, I bought a Compaq Presario for $700 at Sam's Club. And I quickly learned why it was only $700...

They usually only come with 250W Power Supplies. They have no case fans in them. And it you try and put any case fans in them, the power supply really isn't powerful enough to handle it (plus, you'll have to buy extention adaptors to add them in - since there are no open sockets on the power supply).

Within a month, I had to send in my monitor to be replaced (it was dimming in and out).

What I ended up doing was.... I bought a new case (400W PSU). I tried putting the old motherboard in the case, and connect the lines, and it wouldn't power up. So I bought a new motherboard (since I really needed the PSU, and the case was better looking than the original), and while I was there, I bought a GF FX 5200, since the stock video card on the mobo wasn't good enough to handle games or even PhotoShop.

*sigh*

Then finally... I had enough of the darn thing, and took it back to Sam's Club where I got it. But I couldn't find my receipt for it, so I could only get my $800 back on a gift card (grrr). Sam's Club didn't have any components to finish the computer - neither did Walmart. So I was stuck buying $800 worth of crap instead.

Believe me.... You get what you pay for.....

Remember to save your receipt... just in case you want to return it in the future.

POS Computer... grrrr
